Webmaster’s message : About this site
In order to practice developing a website, I have thought making one to send general informations to my boys, easily viewed via links received in whatsapp.
Mostly these informations detail things we talk about at home, such as :
- famous people (actors in movies we watch, sportsmen …)
- places of interest
- music styles and performers
- current news
- and also surprising facts, etc …
For this purpose, the main advantages of such a site over whatsapp or SMS is an easier posting of longer content, an easy access to the informations history – which could also be categorized – and to permanent pages.
The first permanent page is a basic family tree I made to describe my family to my boys, starting at my maternal grandmother Anna Glorioso. Il currently shows her 60+ direct living descendants – in 4 generations – and their 20+ spouses, born and living in Italy, Wales and France.
And in order to test the site, I thought I could send its type of informations to family members willing to receive – about 1 time per week.

Any page can be displayed in either Italian, English or French via the top selection button, with automatic – hence approximative – translation by an internet engine.
The menu is opened via the 3 dots icon at top right of a page, and appears also at the bottom of it.
The homepage – called News – shows all the informations by descending date, and for a quick scroll, a menu page displays only their clickable titles or selection of news by topic. The homepage is also accessible clicking on the site title at the top left of a page.
An information can be openly commented at bottom, have a reaction with emoji icons, and sent via whatsapp icon to anybody.
Via the menu, any family member can send an information – with images or videos – that appears instantaneously on the site – it can be removed asking via the contact form.
The Family tree (menu) can be corrected or complemented at bottom in its own open comments or a message sent to the webmaster.
When an information is published, I send its link via whatsapp to the family members willing to receive.
Comments are not notified via whatsapp; they are seen when browing the site after they were added.
Contact messages (menu) are only viewed by the webmaster (me), and can also be a way to send information for the site that I will post with the name of the sender.

The title “Life is like a box of chocolates” is a famous line said by actor Tom Hanks in the movie Forrest Gump, meaning that in life one does not really know what will happen next (like what a chocolate taken in a box will taste), bringing surprises – like informations in this site.
The site address “peponi” is a swahili word meaning extraordinary world – sometimes a paradise. It gave its name to the song Peponi – inspired from Coldplay’s title Paradise – by The Piano Guys, with singer Alex Boyé, named “2017 Rising Artist of the Year” in a Pepsi/Hard Rock Cafe contest – more details about him in a coming information here.
